Honest expectations on transfer business...
Some of these are blindingly obvious but...

We will not sign Tarkowski.

We will not sign any of our number 1 targets.

We will not sign a creative player and rely on Anderson and Lanzini coming good. They won't.

We will sign a 30+ year old free transfer.

We will make a loan signing
- if they are decent, we won't have any chance of signing them at the end of the loan
- if they are no good, we will have the option but won't want to sign them.

We will once again leave ourselves short either up front or at full back, or worse, both.

If we buy a striker with a half decent scoring record (Bowen), he will be played on the wing and we'll continue with a winger up front.

Any more genuine predictions?

Forgot to include sales...

We will not sell any of out shit players on high wages because no-one will want them.

That'll do!

Re: Honest expectations on transfer business...
I can see 3 signings..one defender for a fee (not Tarkowski) and 2 loans, one a striker and another defender.

My expectations are the following

Right down a logical buy in shortlist for the defensive positions and a loan striker on toilet paper.

Have a curry shit and wipe your arse with that toilet paper.

Flush it down the loo.

Phone the Agent of doom and get him to sort it out.

Pablo Armero and Antonio Nocerino both in on loan till end of season.

Re: Honest expectations on transfer business...
I think it will go right to the end of the window before we see any real activity.

If the takeover rumours are true, then I can't see us spending much even if Rice leaves.

I expect Rice to leave for a decent fee but I'd be surprised if it is north of £70m. I can see something like £65m + add ons
or £55m + Emerson or something like that.
Or a fee + Billy Gilmour on loan.

We are basically just waiting to see what crumbs are left on the table.

I expect us to sign a couple of players whose names we are not familiar with. Solid, defensive players. Perhaps Matviyenko of Shakhtar and Robin Gosens at Atlanta who we have been linked with.

Maybe one or two loans such as Eddie Nketiah, Danny Welbeck, Phil Jones or Jessie Lingard.

I think they will be uninspiring signings whoever they are.

But I also think we will see a few go out the door. Perhaps Wilshire to Genoa, Masuaku to a club in Turkey and Balbuena to a team in Paraguay or Mexico for an undisclosed fee.

I think we will sign Tarkowski..

When he realizes nobody better is in for him. And we will double his wages.
Last big contract.

Re: Honest expectations on transfer business...
You would imagine that their objective will be to stay in the Premier League and achieving that for the lowest possible transfer spend.

So business as usual then. End of window free transfers and maybe an over-the-hill name at a wage he wouldn't get anywhere else.

Re: Honest expectations on transfer business...
Just had a thought...

I wonder if Option 3 that they gave ST holders will affect this pattern?

They gave us the option to secure our seats with a 30% payment, the rest to become payable when we get back to 70% crowd capacity.

If the football and league position is as bad as this come that time, I wonder how many will just write off the 30% (especially if it was paid with Clubcash), and how much GSB are taking this into account when it comes to convincing people to pay the remaining 70%?

Would be interesting to know roughly what proportion of ST holders went for this option and therefore need to be kept happy enough to hand over the rest of their money later in the season?

Moose off talksport reckons they’ve given up on signing tarkowski

For me when it comes to transfers looking for players who are young with a point to prove similar to Bowen and soucek who’ve shown glimpses of stepping up to higher level

I would actually rather make fewer huge money signings and scout players who can develop into top players

basically the Brentford or red bull model Moyes said he wants to implement but isn’t

We will PAY for a CB, we will LOAN a LB, we will LOAN a CF (cause our egomaniac can't stop himself)

and I'm 50/50 was to whether we'll sell Rice, but if not now, it'll be next summer window for sure

diehard, agree and I would do something very similar but question is what do you honestly expect our club to do?!

Plus a Calleri type Striker, like Hugull/Ajeti, obviously not as good as those two

As long as these owners are in charge we can only expect to make the most of cast offs, never where's and injury wrecked car crashes.

We will never scout a player properly, find out what their character is like or off field habits because our chairman is always a willing stooge to hoover up the chaff cluttering the rosters of the player agencies.

It's like an estate agent who shows you all the shit that you aren't interested in hoping that you'll bite.

Sullivan does it every time.

Get the Salthouse client list up again and stick a pin in that but make sure the list is folded in half so the top half is not showing.

Sir Alf

Craig Dawson and Sean Morrison then...if we're lucky

Sadly Dawson has been mentioned by Ex and others as a possible. Just the sort of player we will get. Who is Phil Jones agent?

Re: Honest expectations on transfer business...
Undewhelming centre back for far too much.
Promising young full back who turns out to be not very good (loan).
Superannuated striker for a ludicrous loan fee (with an option to buy).

Stubbo 7:29 Tue Sep 15
Re: Honest expectations on transfer business...
What wouldn't surprise me is:

1 x squad player from a top 8 side on loan with option to buy (CB) - Holding at Arsenal a perfect example of this
1 x up and coming youth player from top 4 side on loan with no option to buy (ST) - Rhian Brewster exactly the type
2 x deadline day fullbacks from abroad as punts from teams with decent reputations historically but who are now trying to offload shit or one of these and a punt from the Czech Republic (because Soucek worked out) or Russia (because they sound a bit funny like Soucek too)

Basically I expect us to operate like a 16-20th Premier League outfit scratching around for survival.

Oh and with combined transfers totalling around 14m, for us to be told the whole kitty was spent after factoring in wages and agent fees.

Lastly I expect Anderson and Wilshere to leave on loan with subsidised wages, and no one replacing them.

People are being way to positive on this thread.

sign someone . Really!.

Stubbo 7:36 Tue Sep 15
Re: Honest expectations on transfer business...
Im confident we'll definitely sign at least 2 but probably 4 players before the deadline - but they'll be a load of old jaff that no one wants and some foreign punts (who are the only players we remain an attractive prospect to).
